40th Cubs – Christmas Party Rescheduled
The 40th Cubs Christmas Party in Leisureplex has been rescheduled from Monday 20th December 2010 to Monday 17th January 2011. The decision has been taken on the grounds of safety, due to the poor road conditions caused by the snow and ice, and that temperatures have now dropped below zero again. The 40th Cubs will resume after the break on Monday 10th January. We would like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a happy and joyful Christmas. – Niall & Conor

Orienteering Competition
This Sunday (14th November) we are participating is our first orienteering activity of the year. It is being held in Currabinny Woods. This is part of a County scout event and other groups will also be participating throughout the day. Our allocated slot is from 10am until 12 noon.
Macaoimh should wear warm clothes and a rain jacket and must wear their neckerchief. If the weather is cold a hat and gloves would be advisable. Macaoimh can also bring a light snack and a drink for afterwards. No eating or drinking is allowed in the woods, so the snack and any other gear should be in a backpack, which can be left in the car park.
As this is a short activity, if parents or other family members would like to participate on the day we will have spare maps and cards available with a choice of a basic 60minute or an advanced 90 minute course. There is no charge for this activity.
Orienteering is a great introduction to map reading – an essential scout skill and we would hope that everybody can turn up on Sunday

12 Days of Christmas Draw
Tickets for the annual 12 Days of Christmas Draw are being distributed to all sections this week. The group hopes that all families in the group will be able to sell a book of tickets. This is an important fundraiser for the group as it funds 10% to 15% of our annual running costs. Tickets can be returned on your usual meeting night, but no later than Friday 26th November 2010 as the ticket stubs need to be sent to Dublin in time for the first draw. We appreciate your continued support.
