Monday October Bank Holiday

There will be no Beaver Scout or 40th Cub Scout meetings on Monday 25th October, as it is a Bank Holiday.  All other sections are uneffected.  Meetings for Beaver and 40th Cubs Scouts resume as normal on Monday 1st November.

Orienteering Event

Our first orienteering event of the year will take place on Sunday 14thNovember 2010 in Currabinny Woods.  The scheduled time for the cub scout competition will be from 10am to 12 noon.  The results will be available on Monday 16th and Tuesyda 17th November.

Overnight Activity

Our first overnight activity this year will take place on from Friday 5th to Saturday 6th November at Kilcully Campsite.  We will be staying indoors in dormitories in Kilcully House.  The cost of the activity is €25 per person and a €10 deposit is required to secure your place.  This is payable on your usual meeting night.

Registration for 2010/11

 All existing members have been circulated by post with details of Registration, Parental Consent Forms and Notice of AGM. New members may apply at the registration evening and AGM on 8th September 2010 in the Scout Hall. A short presentation on the new ONE Programme will also be made at the AGM.  All parents are encouraged to attend.

ONE Programme

Scouting Ireland has been working over the last 5 years to develop a whole new integrated programme for scouts, which has increased youth participation at all levels.

The new programme involves a change in the ages ranges for the different sections and the addition of one new section.

Investiture 2010

This year our investiture took place in the Cork Civil Defence premises in Ballyvolane on 23rd February.  Prioir to the ceremony the cubs were dived into three groups and shown the Rescue Boats, Ambulances and Fire Engines.  As well as investing new cubs, a number fo Bronze, Silver & Gold Arrows were awared to cubs who had completed are the reequirments. Many thanks to the Civil Defence for a great night.
