County Fun & Sports Day

The County Cub Fun & Sports day takes place on 12th June in Kilcully.  It included sports events, bouncing catles and a BBQ.  The cost is 12 per person.  All cubs should meet at Kiclully at 10am on Sunday and can be collected agains at 4pm.  Neckerchiefs must be worn.

Scouts Shield Hike

This years Shield Hike took place in Kilcully on Sunday 13th March. We had one patrol on the day competing in nine bases against groups from around the county. The scouts also pitched tents and cooked lunch on trangia’s. The overall Shield competition moves on to the Survival Day on the 9th April next.

Venture County Hillwalk 20th Feb Galtee Mts.

After the highly successful County Table Quiz held in Ballinlough Scout Hall on Jan 19th 2010, Ballinlough Venturers are organising a county hillwalk for the County Venture/Rover Section.

We will climbing the Galtee Mountains on Sunday Feb 20th 2011.

Specific details will follow shortly but provisionally meeting Sunday at Ballinlough Scout Hall @ 9am and we will return at 5pm.

Scout Hillwalk in Co. Kerry

This Sunday 13th February there will be a beginners walk and and advanced walk in Killarney.  We are meeting at Douglas Court Shopping Centre at 8.30am to get the bus, as this is a County event.  We should be back in Douglas Court by 5pm.  The cost will be €10 per scout.  Scouts should wear appropriate clothes for hillwalking, their neckerchief and being a packed lunch including a  hot drink.

38th Cubs – Meeting Changes

From Tuesday 2nd November 2010, the meeting times of the 38th Cub Scouts will be brought forward to the new time of 7pm to 8.30pm.  Please note the new times.

There will be no meeting on Tuesday 9th November, hoewever you should note the Orienteering taking place on Sunday 14th November in Currabinny Woods from 10am to 12 noon.  Cubs should wear their neckerchief and warm clothes.

Overnight Activity in Kilcully – Gear List

Our first overnight activity this year will be at Kilcully Campsite from this Friday 5th November to Saturday 6th November.  We will be meeting in the Car Park of Kilcully campsite on Friday at 7.30pm and can be collected again on Saturday at 3pm from the same place.

We will be staying indoors in dormitories and a full list of gear is included overleaf.  Please note that weather permitting some of the activities will be outdoor so a warm jacket and hat are advisable.

Macaoimh should not bring any drink, sweets, crisps or any other items to eat or drink as all meals and snack are provided and eating is not permitted in dormitories.  Also note that mobile phones are not allowed.

A number of macaoimh have not yet returned their green Parental Consent Form.  If you have not returned it you will need to do so by Friday in Kilcully at the latest.

GEAR LIST

Macaoimh should assist with the packing of their bags – so they know where packed items are and are able to pack it for the return journey.

12 Days of Christmas Draw

Tickets for the annual 12 Days of Christmas Draw are being distributed to all sections this week.  The group hopes that all families in the group will be able to sell a book of tickets.  This is an important fundraiser for the group as it funds 10% to 15% of our annual running costs.  Tickets can be returned on your usual meeting night, but no later than Friday 26th November 2010 as the ticket stubs need to be sent to Dublin in time for the first draw.  We appreciate your continued support.

Beaver Section Full

The Beaver Section is now full and has no vacancies for new members in the current scouting year.  if you are interested in joining Beavers, the section is open to boys aged 6 to 9 years old.  If you wish you can add your childs to the waiting list for this section by emailing info@ballinloughscouts.com. Please note the minimum age to join is six years and we cannot accept anyone before their sixth birthday.

Overnight Activity

Our first overnight activity this year will take place on from Friday 5th to Saturday 6th November at Kilcully Campsite.  We will be staying indoors in dormitories in Kilcully House.  The cost of the activity is €25 per person and a €10 deposit is required to secure your place.  This is payable on your usual meeting night.
